Why Do I Feel Better When I Create?

Sep 01, 2023

I always knew that taking a moment, or two to be creative, was GOOD FOR MY HEALTH.   BUT, I really didn't know how beneficial it really was until NOW.

While posting the images below for my creative club, MY ART SISTERS I started suggesting that if they didn't have the time to complete a full project, simply print off the templet that I provide for them and use it as a COLORING PAGE.

My mind instantly transported back to the moments when I started creating these projects and how relaxing it was to just sit and color.  That lead me to seek out WHY?  So, I sought out an article that could give me some medical reasons.

To my surprise, I learned these 7 reasons WHY something as simple as Coloring CAN improve my health.

These are the 7❣️

  • Relaxes brain & Improves brain function
  • Induces Meditative State
  • Improves Motor Skills
  • Improves sleeping
  • Improves focus
  • Reduces Anxiety
  • Relieves Stress

Let me expand on the first 3 for you.....

Benefit #1

Relaxes Your Brain and Improves Brain Function

HERE'S HOW: 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

(Relaxes) "When you’re coloring, you’re focused on the simple activity in front of you. This begins to relax your mind and keep your thoughts from intruding."

(‌Improves Function) "Coloring can also improve your brain's ability to function. When you’re coloring, different parts of your brain's cerebral hemispheres are activated. When you choose what colors to use, your creativity is activated. As you color forms and shapes, your logic is also activated."

Benefit #3

Improves Motor Skills

🌻🌻🌻 "Some health professionals believe that the following activities not only engage motor skills, but can even help delay the onset of dementia"

Benefit #2

Induces Meditative State

🐝 🌻 This is why art CAN reduce stress.  Your mind stops thinking about the past and worrying about the future.  it begins to focus on the present and what you are doing at that moment.   "It suspends the inner dialogue and stops the negative thoughts."
