Aspen Trees
September 2025
Here is a fun and quick project. Aspen trees in the fall time. I have included 2 sizes of templates. I created this project on a 6 x 8 size paper. I have also included a 9 x 12 template.
Download the template
Paint the background first and then trace the template of the tree trunks.
Suggested Supplies
Watercolor paper - 6 x 8
Watercolors
Acrylic paint: White, Black and grey. (You can mix your own grey with the white and black)
Fine tip Black permanent marker.
White Jelly Roll pen.
Aspen Template 9 x 12PRACTICE FOR MAKING LEAVES WITH WATERCOLOR... Let's use your new brushes.
I loved practicing with the watercolors to make the leaves...I found it to be very relaxing!
This project is easy to break up and do in small chunks of time. The goal is to practice making the stems and leaves. (I put all of my practice pages on a canvas to create a composition. You do not need to arrange it on a canvas unless you choose to do so.)
Colors that I used to paint the background to create the composition.
Anitas's Acrylic: Light Turquoise & Lily Pad. I also added gesso over the top with a sponge.
Cut paper (2) 3" x 4", (3) 2"x 3"
Water colors of your choice.
After the video I felt like it needed something more...so I added the stencil on the sides. I used Ranger's Distressed Oxide Ink (Vintage Photo) to tie in the brown colors used in the stems and the paper.
