Â
Below I have created a simple guide sharing with you the Creative Reminders routine and an added bonus to help clear your mind, which I hope will help you during this time.
Let's Start with a Simple Routine to Clear Your Mind from Mental Clutter
Clearing Your Mind with Creative Reminders: A Simple Routine
When life feels overwhelming and your mind is cluttered, Creative Reminders can help you center yourself in God's peace and bring clarity. This quick, 3-step routine will guide you in clearing your thoughts and trusting in God's provision for your life.
Step 1: Pause and Pray
- Take a moment: Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and invite God’s peace into your heart.
- A Quick Prayer to set your Desire and Purpose: In this moment, trust that God is present with you, and ask Him to quiet your mind and fill you with His peace.
Â
Step 2: Create a new Thought using Creative Reminders and Write it down in your Creative Journal. Writing down God’s Word, or a peaceful affirmation helps anchor and shifts your mindset from anxiety to trust.
From the Creative Reminders section: “To Clear the Mind - Scriptures and Thoughts”.
- "I am clearing space for peace and clarity."
OR
- "I release all worries and allow my mind to rest. I trust in God's perfect peace to calm my heart. With each breath, I surrender my anxieties to Him, knowing that He cares for me and provides me with the rest I need."
Â
Other examples - Think of a scripture or affirmation that brings you peace   Examples include:
- Â "I cast all my cares upon the Lord, for He cares for me." (1 Peter 5:7)
- Â "I am trusting in the Lord for peace, knowing He is with me every step of the way."
-  "God’s peace guards my heart and mind, and I release all worries to Him."
Â
Step 3: Visualize & Revisit (Art Journaling)
- Add a simple drawing, doodle, or symbol that reflects the affirmation or scripture. It could be a heart, a peaceful landscape, or any image that symbolizes love and peace.
- Focus on the visual: Allow your mind to rest on the image you’ve created. This will reinforce the affirmation and clear any mental clutter.
Â
Bonus Step: Use the Grow Joy Journal page
- Keep your affirmation or scripture visible throughout the day. Write it in your Grow Joy Journal or on a note you can carry with you, and turn to it whenever you feel overwhelmed.
- Revisit your affirmation regularly: Whenever you’re anxious, take a moment to pray, breathe, and reaffirm the peaceful thought you’ve created remembering that God’s truth will calm your heart.
Â
Â
Why This Works:
- Shifting focus: Writing and visualizing helps pull your attention away from the overload and brings your mind back to a place of calm.
- Clearing clutter: The physical act of journaling and creating art helps “release” mental clutter and resets your thought patterns.
- Daily routine: The more you practice, the more natural it becomes to find clarity even during chaotic moments.
By incorporating this simple routine into your day, you can begin to clear the mental clutter, reduce stress, gain the clarity, and the peace from God that you need to move forward.

Here’s how Creative Reminders can guide you on your re-discovering journey:
1. Create the Thought
After a loss, it’s easy for negative thoughts to dominate. Creative Reminders starts with shifting those thoughts by choosing affirmations that align with healing and self-love. Focus on empowering thoughts such as:
- “I am allowed to heal at my own pace.”
- “I am rediscovering my strength each day.”
- “I trust that life will bring new opportunities for growth.”
These affirmations are reminders that you are more than your grief, and they help steer your mindset toward healing and renewal.
2. Record It in Your Journal
Write down your affirmations in your art journal or a simple notebook. This process isn’t about perfection—it’s about expressing your heart. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s perfectly fine to start small. Simply write down what feels true for you today. Writing brings clarity and helps clear the mental fog that grief often causes.
3. Visualize It with Art
If you’re open to it, add a visual representation of your affirmation. This doesn’t need to be complex or “artistic”—it could be as simple as drawing a symbol of hope, like a heart or a sunrise, or using colors that reflect the peace you want to feel. If you’re not ready for art, that’s okay too. You can simply decorate your page with words, or even create a vision board with pictures or quotes that inspire you on your healing journey.
Creative Reminders gives you space to explore your feelings and thoughts as you rediscover who you are after a loss. You can use it to find peace in the midst of grief and create new goals for the future. It also serves as a daily reminder that you’re worthy of joy and healing—even on the toughest days.
How This Can Help You:
- Recenter your focus: Use affirmations to guide your thoughts away from fear, sadness, or confusion toward healing and hope.
- Find clarity in the fog of grief: The act of journaling and reflecting can help you understand your emotions and gain a new perspective on what you need to heal.
- Nurture yourself through the process: This journey of self-discovery is one of patience and self-compassion. Creative Reminders helps you create space for that.
A Personal Note:
I understand that this process takes time. If you feel like you don’t have the energy to dive into creative journaling right away, start where you are.  Just write, just reflect.  Even the smallest action can lead to profound changes.  Trust that with each small step, you’re giving yourself the permission to heal, grow, and discover new parts of who you are.
If you’re looking for more guidance or inspiration, our Growing Joy Journal and Creative Reminders resources can be found in The Community for Creative Reminders. Whether you choose to journal, write, or create visual reminders, this practice can help bring light to even the darkest days.
You’re not alone on this journey. Take it one moment at a time. Let’s grow joy together.
With warmth and care,
