Taken from our Grow Joy journaling class.

This project is fun to create. I have not added a video for this project. Simpley follow these steps:
1. Draw a simple heart.
2. Add water and watercolor paint in and around the the image. You decide the colors you wish to use. Let the paint flow and mix together.Â
Let the colors bleed over into some of the areas by adding water to an area on the paper that already has wet paint. This will create amazing textures and colors.
February Intro & Week 1 - Redirect – Embracing God’s Love
February 2025 - Acknowledged Love – Embracing God’s Love and Loving Ourselves
February: Acknowledged Love – Embracing God’s Love and Loving Ourselves
Basic Human Need addressed: Love.Â
This month, we focus on the power of love—both God’s unconditional love for us and the self-love that allows us to live fully and purposefully. Self-love is about accepting and appreciating who we are, taking care of our emotional and spiritual needs, and bouncing back from challenges with grace. It’s about loving ourselves as God loves us—recognizing our worth, nurturing ourselves, and extending that love to others. By embracing this love, we not only honor ourselves, but we also allow God's love to flow in us and through us, empowering us to live with purpose, compassion, and resilience.
Â
Week 1: Redirect – Embracing God’s Love
Prompt:
- What is one area in my life that I feel ready to shift or improve?
- What feelings or thoughts are holding me back from fully accepting God’s love and embracing self-love?
- How would my life change if I truly embraced God’s unconditional love and allowed myself to accept love as I am?
Activity:
- Create an image or symbol that represents God's love for you. This could be something like a heart, a light, or any visual that makes you feel seen and loved. Reflect on what areas in your life you need to release to feel fully embraced by God’s love, and consider how embracing yourself in the same way will open new paths to growth.
Scripture:
- Romans 8:38-39 – “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- 1 John 4:19 – “We love because he first loved us.”
Self-love note:
Embracing God's love for us means accepting ourselves as He created us. It's vital to release any self-criticism or negativity, and allow ourselves to see our worth through His eyes. God’s love invites us to love ourselves in a healthy, balanced way, as we care for our emotional, physical, and spiritual needs
This Chart helps with awareness
This chart is a gentle reminder of how deeply love impacts our hearts and actions.
When a person feels loved, they often show it in how they think, respond, and connect with others. When they feel unloved, the opposite emotions and behaviors can appear.
It’s not about judgment — it’s about awareness. Recognizing these patterns helps us understand ourselves and those we care for, so we can respond with more compassion and choose love more often.
The top row is when the need for love is felt. The bottom row ilists the feelings and reactions when someone is not feeling loved.
