Artful Living — self-care, one brushstroke at a time
Hi, I’m Cathy — a mixed media artist, creative mentor, and passionate advocate for artful living: taking time for renewal, using creativity to reset your emotional energy, and stepping back into life refreshed.
I believe women are the heart keepers — the emotional centers of families, friends, and communities. We sense what’s going on around us and instinctively nurture others. As mothers especially, our emotional state — even when we try to hide it — is deeply felt by our children. That’s why it matters so much that women have a space to care for their own hearts first.
🌻🌻 My vision is simple: to give you a place of possibility — a place to renew your heart, practice your art, and carry that joy into the lives of others.
Why I Do This Work
My creative path began in design. After earning a BFA degree from the University of North Texas in Interior Design and working with a prestigious architecture firm in Dallas, I opened my own business helping clients create beautiful homes.
A pivotal point came one day as I stood in the foyer of a new client and heard this thought:
“You’re helping create a beautiful home, but what about the chaos she feels inside? It won’t matter how beautiful her home is if she’s feeling unsettled, overwhelmed, or disconnected from herself.”
That question stayed with me. Life soon gave it deeper meaning as I noticed growing levels of anxiety in our children — especially my oldest daughter, Aimee. She was a gifted young performer who danced and sang on the Jim Stafford stage in Branson.  She captivated audiences and stole hearts, but what few could see was her quiet struggle with OCD and perfectionism. I had just completed my training in stress management and began working with her, when a tragic car accident took her from us. I quickly realized that all of this training wasn’t just for her — it was to help our family navigate the loss and grief that followed.
Because of the challenges she faced, my mission became clear:
To teach women and families how to lower the stress that fuels anxiety, shift the stories they tell themselves, and find creative ways to express feelings that words can’t always hold.
Artful Living: My Approach
For more than 40 years I’ve worked in art, design, and wellness. Along the way I’ve trained in practices that support both the creative spirit and emotional well-being, including:
-
Mixed media art, expressive painting, and collage
-
Journaling, affirmation, and reflection practices
-
Sand talk and creative emotional literacy techniques
-
Stress release practices such as deep breathing, music, and movement
-
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
-
Reflexology and holistic wellness
I bring all of these together in My Art Sisters and The Little Art Village — peaceful, joy-filled spaces where women can paint, write, breathe, and reconnect with themselves.
Because women carry so much, this is your place to reset your emotional energy, clear the mental clutter so that God's voice can be heard, and step back into life feeling refreshed, and returning with joy.
What I Offer
Through my online membership, I guide women in:
