 About Cathy Freeman
Founder of My Art Sisters & The Little Art Village Artful self-care — one brushstroke at a time
Hi, I’m Cathy — a mixed media artist, creative mentor, and passionate advocate for using art as a form of renewal, restore peace, spark joy, and give voice to the feelings we can’t always put into words. I’m also a lover of vintage treasures, sparkling things, Root Beer floats, and long walks on the beach or trails in the mountains.
I created The Little Art Village and My Art Sisters as peaceful, joy-filled spaces where women can paint, reset, and reconnect with themselves through expressive art. But the path that led me here wasn’t a straight one — it came from deep personal experiences that reshaped my purpose.

Why I Do This Work
My journey began in the world of design. After earning my degree in Interior Design and working with a prestigious architecture firm in Dallas, I opened my own business helping clients create beautiful homes. But one day, as I stood in a client’s foyer, a thought stopped me in my tracks:
“You’re changing her surroundings, but what about her inner world?”
That question stayed with me, and life soon gave it deeper meaning.
As a mother, I began noticing different levels of anxiety in children — and I started learning more about health, wellness, and stress management. I became especially aware of our oldest daughter, Aimee — a gifted young performer — who was quietly struggling with OCD, anxiety, and perfectionism.
We were just beginning to explore how her thoughts and perceptions were creating the stress that affected her ability to sing… when she was taken from us in a tragic car accident.
Though I couldn’t help Aimee in time, she became the reason I chose to help others. My mission became clear:
To teach women and families how to lower the stress that fuels anxiety, shift the stories they tell themselves, and find safe, creative ways to express feelings they can’t always put into words — through the gentle, transformative power of creativity.

Expressive painting & collage to unlock creativity and confidence

Mindset and reflection practices to restore calm and joy
Whether you want to learn new art techniques, create a calmer home environment, or simply carve out time for yourself, I’m here to help you paint, renew, and grow joy — one brushstroke at a time.
